The improved CPU core of the AT89LP51RD2/ED2/ID2 may retrieve one byte from memory each clock cycle. Because each fetch takes six clock cycles in the vintage 8051 architecture, instructions must complete in twelve, twenty-four, or forty-eight clock cycles. With just one to four clock cycles required for ordinary instructions, the AT89LP51RD2/ED2/ID2 CPU offers six to twelve times the throughput of a normal 8051. The majority of the remaining instructions just require one more clock cycle, and 70% of instructions only require the number of clock cycles equal to their byte count to execute. Twenty MIPS may be achieved throughput with the upgraded CPU core, but only 4 MIPS can be achieved with the same current consumption with the traditional 8051 CPU.

The MCP1703A has an output voltage tolerance of ±0.4% at +25°C and ±3% at its maximum operational junction temperature of -40°C to +125°C. At +25°C, line regulation is typically within ±0.1%.
